The public hearing for the Sijimali Bauxite Mining was completed successfully on Monday.
Sijimali Bauxite Block spread over an area of 1549.022 hectares located in the Rayagada and Kalahandi districts with an estimated reserves of 311 million tonnes of bauxite and annual production capacity of 9 million metric tonnes, was allotted to Anil Agarwal-led aluminium major Vedanta Ltd. on March 1, 2023 under the mineral block auction conducted by the Odisha Government.
As per the guidelines of MoEF&CC, Regional Officer of Odisha State Pollution Control Board successfully organised the public hearing at Trinath Dev High School, Sunger under Kashipur Tehsil in Rayagada district today.
Over 600 villagers present in the meeting, extended their support for the project and put forward some demands. The public hearing that lasted for over one and a half hours, was declared a successful one by the Additional District Magistrate of Rayagada.
