24th CII Enterprise Odisha 2024 unveils progressive discussions on Agriculture, Skilling, Women Empowerment, and Startups

The 24th CII Enterprise Odisha 2024 continued its deliberations on the second day at the Exhibition Ground in Jharsuguda, focusing on propelling the prosperity of the state through insightful discussions across various sectors.

In the session on “Opportunities in Agriculture and Food Processing”, key figures, including State Industries Department Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma and IPICOL and IDCO Managing Director Bhupendra Singh Punia highlighted the vast potential for farmers and Agri-entrepreneurs. Emphasis was placed on leveraging water resources investments, advocating for diverse crop cultivation, and promoting small-scale industries. The adoption of nano urea and strategies for efficient transportation and value addition were also key topics.

Shifting to skill development, discussions emphasized collaboration between industry and academia, with organizations like Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, and others actively participating in cultivating skilled manpower. The focus extended to the World Skills Centre in Bhubaneswar, aiming to meet industry staffing needs and enhance competitiveness.

In a dedicated session on Mission Shakti and Women Empowerment, speakers emphasized the need for the upliftment of women across social, economic, and political spheres. The establishment of industrial parks mirroring successful food park models was discussed to empower women self-help groups (SHGs) and create opportunities in the food processing industry.

The Yi Innovex session on startups highlighted the importance of respecting entrepreneurs, grooming in the business environment, and necessary changes at governmental and societal levels. The government pledged commitment to amending rules periodically, supporting Odisha’s journey in the startup landscape.

Key figures in these sessions included Industries Department Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma, Startup Odisha Executive Chairman Dr. Omkar Rai, and IIM Sambalpur Director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal.

Roundtable discussions with venture capitalists and founders followed the inaugural of Yi Innovex.

The 24th CII Enterprise Odisha 2024 signifies a crucial platform fostering dialogue for Odisha’s economic growth and development.
