Ashok Leyland accelerates expansion, fuels growth in Odisha’s commercial vehicle market

In a strategic move aimed at tapping into the burgeoning markets of Eastern India, especially Odisha, Ashok Leyland, India’s premier commercial vehicle manufacturer and a flagship company of the Hinduja Group, is poised to strengthen its presence in the dynamic state.

Fuelled by the robust economic growth of the region, with Odisha’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) being the highest among the eastern states, coupled with ongoing infrastructure development and a surge in demand for commercial vehicles, Ashok Leyland aims to fortify its market standing and address the specific needs of customers in Odisha.

Sanjeev Kumar, President of M&HCV at Ashok Leyland Ltd, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the significant business prospects in Odisha and the broader Eastern India region during a media briefing here on Friday. He underscored the strategic initiatives undertaken by Ashok Leyland to expand its footprint, capitalizing on attractive business opportunities, a substantial customer base, and an investment-friendly environment in Odisha.

As part of its business expansion plan for Odisha, Ashok Leyland plans to increase the number of Dealer Outlets in the state from 38 in FY2022-23 to 67 by the end of the current financial year. Kumar informed the audience that, in FY24, the company has already added 13 new dealer outlets.

In an effort to provide technical support to mechanics and enhance their knowledge and skills, Ashok Leyland has established 12 Service Training Institutes across the country, including one in Bhubaneswar.

Additionally, the company aims to open another Driving Training Institute in Odisha, in collaboration with the Central and State Governments, at an investment of approximately Rs 50 crore. The new Training Institute will be located in the mineral-rich Keonjhar area. It’s worth noting that Ashok Leyland already operates three Driving Training Institutes in Odisha – at Chhatia, Berhampur, and Bonai.
