Centurion University’s School of Fisheries granted ICAR approval for B. F.Sc degree program

Centurion University announced on Tuesday that its School of Fisheries, situated at Paralakhemundi, has garnered approval from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) degree program.

This significant approval stands as a testament to the School of Fisheries’ unwavering dedication to excellence in fisheries education and research, thereby cementing its stature as a leading institution in the realm of fisheries studies.

The B.F.Sc degree program boasts a comprehensive curriculum meticulously designed to equip students with the requisite knowledge and skills essential for success in fisheries management and aquaculture. The curriculum encompasses a diverse array of subjects including Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management, Fish Processing Technology, Aquatic Environment Management, Fish Engineering, Aquatic Animal Health Management, Fisheries Extension, Economics, and Statistics.

Setting itself apart with its holistic approach to education, the School of Fisheries at Centurion University is distinguished by its seven fully-fledged departments staffed with highly qualified faculty members. Students are afforded invaluable practical experience through hands-on learning opportunities at the Aquaculture Research Farm (ARF), which features an impressive array of 22 fish ponds and cutting-edge facilities for integrated farming systems, pearl culture, cage culture, and ornamental fish culture.

Beyond its academic prowess, the School of Fisheries remains steadfast in its commitment to community engagement and sustainable development. Through innovative initiatives such as vermicomposting, live fish feed culture, pearl culture, and the development of value-added fish products, the institution actively contributes to uplifting the socio-economic conditions of local communities while championing environmental sustainability.
