Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), situated in Angul, marked Earth Hour 2024 with fervor and enthusiasm on Saturday. The event witnessed the active involvement of Executive Director Pankaj Malhan, alongside Damodar Mittal, Executive Director overseeing the Angul location, and the entire Jindal Nagar community, including residents and members of the local populace.

As part of the commemoration, all lights in Jindal Nagar were turned off from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, accompanied by a candlelit march from Divya Sarovar to Devbhoomi within the township. A notable aspect of the event was the enthusiastic participation of children, who joined in large numbers, chanting slogans that underscored the significance of such initiatives in the fight against climate change. Additionally, a lively spot quiz competition was organized for the children, with mementos presented to the winners.

In alignment with the Earth Hour observance, the Environment Management Department (EMD) of JSP launched an initiative named “Pahal” and distributed cloth bags to every household to discourage the use of single-use plastic. The residents of Jindal Nagar took a pledge to cease using single-use plastics, with the EMD distributing cloth bags to promote a cleaner and greener environment.

The Earth Hour observance resonated with the global theme of 2024, “Uniting for Our One Shared Home,” emphasizing the interconnectedness of all Earth’s inhabitants and the collective responsibility to safeguard our natural world.

“Observing Earth Hour 2024 at JSP, Angul, underscores the urgent need for harmony between humanity and nature,” stated Executive Director Pankaj Malhan.
