Jindal Steel & Power celebrates 89th Utkal Divas

Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) marked the 89th Utkal Divas with fervor and enthusiasm at its Angul plant premises on April 1st, paying homage to the illustrious sons of Odisha, including Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das. Pankaj Malhan, Head of the Angul location and Executive Director, alongside Damodar Mittal and other dignitaries, led the tribute.

Extending heartfelt wishes via social media, JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal expressed, “Best wishes to the people of Odisha on Odisha Statehood Day. This remarkable state has always been the land of rich heritage, stunning landscapes, and resilient people. From the shores of Puri to the bustling streets of Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s beauty knows no bounds. I am proud to be a part of its journey towards progress and prosperity”.

At the celebration, Malhan conveyed warm regards to the people of Odisha, emphasizing JSP’s longstanding bond with the state and its populace, spanning over three decades. He commended the dedication and industrious spirit of Odisha’s residents, underscoring their invaluable contribution to both the state and the nation.

The festivities showcased Odisha’s cultural opulence with captivating performances such as Odissi dance, Sambalpuri dance, Ghumara dance, and a live musical performance. Besides, a quiz focusing on Odisha Culture and Heritage, along with the felicitation of talented artists, added to the cultural splendor.

Moreover, Utkal Divas found its commemoration at O.P. Jindal School, where staff members, students, parents, community members, and esteemed guests including Chief Guest Professor Santanu Kumar Sar, ex-Principal of the Government Autonomous College, Angul; Subhadeep Khan, CHRO, JSP; Sarat Kumar Panda, GM-HR & ES; Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal, President, Jindal Mahila Samiti, Sonali Basu, Principal, offered floral tributes to the stalwarts of Odisha who played pivotal roles in the movement for a separate linguistic state in the 1930s.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from dignitaries, parents, students, staff, and a large number of community members, encapsulating Odisha’s diverse cultural facets through captivating performances and exhibitions.
