In a bid to elevate the Human Development Index (HDI) in communities, JSP Foundation has expanded its Aashiana program, providing housing assistance to 449 underprivileged families spanning 11 states in India.

JSP Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal officially launched the second edition of the program on Saturday, presenting confirmation letters for financial aid to the selected families.

Addressing the programme, Jindal said, “We firmly believe that everyone deserves the security of a Home, and we take immense pride that out of the housing assistance provided in the past, 521 families have already constructed their dream home with the financial support in the first phase our Aashiana programme. I am very happy to know that an additional 449 families will get financial support in the second edition of the programme to achieve their dream of owning a home. I am sure this will sustainably enhance the quality of life of theirs and their families.”

Project Aashiana, initiated in FY 2022-23 by JSP Foundation, the CSR arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), strives to alleviate housing insecurity by offering financial support to families with limited resources. Under the program, eligible families receive up to Rs. 250,000 for constructing houses equipped with essential facilities such as toilets, drinking water, and electricity.

This year, the foundation received 773 applications for financial assistance, with 449 families meeting the selection criteria. The distribution of aid will benefit families across various states, including Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh.

Financial assistance will be disbursed in stages, contingent upon construction progress, and JSP Foundation may consider additional support for essential components based on timely completion.

JSP President & Group Head (CSR) Prashant Kumar Hota Prashant Kumar Hota emphasized the program’s objectives to bring sustainable change to society.

The event witnessed the presence of key figures, including JSP’s CHRO Subhadeep Khan, Barbil Unit Head Purushotham MD, President and CFO (Raigarh Unit) Hanuman Sharma, Patratu Unit Head Ashish Jain, and JPL’s Tamnar Unit Head Chhavi Nath Singh, along with senior executives from various locations.
