JSP receives Social Impact Award 2024 for pioneering Sports Welfare Initiatives

Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), a leading steelmaker, has been honored with the prestigious Social Impact Award 2024 in the category of Best Sports Welfare Initiative of the Year.

Representing JSP, its Group Chief Digital Officer, Indradyumna Datta, received the accolade from Delhi Crime Branch ACP-Cyber Cell, Sandeep Malhotra, in a ceremony held last week.

Inspired by Chairman Naveen Jindal’s vision, JSP, through its social arm, the JSP Foundation, has embarked on numerous groundbreaking endeavors to promote sports initiatives, aiming to empower youth, foster diversity, and enable local talent to achieve recognition for their state and nation.

This recognition stands as a testament to JSP’s unwavering dedication to driving development through innovative sports initiatives.

Expressing gratitude to the jury for the honor, JSP Foundation Chairperson, Shallu Jindal, remarked, “At JSP, we believe in the transformative potential of sports in inspiring, empowering, and uniting people. We have initiated various programmes for the development of sports in rural and tribal areas, with an emphasis on helping disadvantaged athletes reach their full potential. This award will further motivate us to continue our efforts in fostering and promoting future sports talents.”

Aligned with the Khelo India vision of the Government of India, JSP is committed to nurturing and training young talents in various sports such as Wushu, Kabbadi, archery, football, and cricket. The company facilitates improved sports infrastructure, nutrition, training, and participation in national and international programs. JSP’s initiatives support 25,000 budding sporting talents across the country, particularly in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, including 5,000 aspiring talents in hockey from Sundargarh district, Odisha.

The JSP Foundation has constructed 10 playgrounds, two sports complexes and stadiums, and a sports hostel dedicated to underprivileged sportswomen and men. The Sports Hostel in Barbil provides tribal and underprivileged sporting talents with free accommodation, nutrition, education in English-medium schools, and intensive sports coaching. Several talents nurtured by JSP have clinched medals in national and international sports events.
