JSW Energy Ltd announced on Monday the successful commissioning of the initial 350 MW unit at its Ind-Barath thermal power plant in Odisha. Following this development, the company’s operational capacity now stands at 7,189 MW, as reported in an exchange filing by JSW Energy.

This newly commissioned unit plays a crucial role in the company’s strategy to enhance its operational capabilities, enabling a more diversified fuel mix, geographical reach, and offtake arrangements, as outlined by JSW Energy.

In its official statement, the company stated, “JSW Energy has achieved the successful commissioning of unit-1, a 350 MW capacity, at the Ind-Barath 700 MW (2×350 MW) thermal power plant in Odisha.”

The Ind-Barath plant came under the ownership of JSW Energy through NCLT proceedings in December 2022, following the resolution plan submitted under insolvency laws in 2019.

Looking ahead, JSW Energy has ambitious targets, aiming to achieve a generation capacity of 20 GW and an energy storage capacity of 40 GWh by 2030.
