JSW starts free eye screening in mines area

JSW Foundation organised a free eye screening camp at the Nuagaon dispensary in Keonjhar district on December 7 for the benefit of the local villagers.

More than 150 patients were screened for eye ailments during the camp. Patients availed free eye checkup by specialists and were also given spectacles. Prescription eye glasses for those with vision correction needs will be custom made and home delivered within 15 days, JSW Foundation said in statement.

Most of the patients belonged to weaker sections of the society who were not financially sound to avail proper eye treatments.

JSW Foundation’s free eye screening camp will be conducted for three months covering its 56 direct impact zone (DIZ) villages, JSW sources said, adding that free screening and vision correction service will be provided to more than 20,000 people, including senior citizens and children in the next three months.

JSW Foundation had provided similar services to 10,000 people in Paradip in the recent past; and is simultaneously conducting 10,000 eye screenings in Jharsuguda and 5,000 eye screening in Kutra area of Sundargarh as well, taking the total number to 45,000 eye screening across Odisha during the current financial year.

The local administration and people appreciate this noble service offered by the JSW Group under its CSR initiative, in the remote locations of the State.
