Key industry leaders highlight Odisha’s potential for accelerated growth at CII Annual Meeting

At the annual meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Odisha today, stakeholders from various sectors convened to discuss the state’s potential for rapid growth and development. The event, which also featured a session titled “Odisha: Exploring Opportunities on a Faster Growth Track,” saw prominent figures from government and industry sharing insights and strategies for unlocking the region’s economic potential.

Addressing attendees, Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Managing Director of IPICOL, Government of Odisha, emphasized the abundance of opportunities available in the state. He urged investors to seize the moment, highlighting the strategic focus on coastal regions and predicting a surge in industrialization within the next two years.

Shiv Siddhant Narayan Kaul, Chairman of CII Eastern Region, commended Odisha’s robust infrastructure and the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses. He emphasized the state’s potential to emerge as a world-class manufacturing destination.

G Suresha, Executive Director of Odisha Asset Operation at Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India, discussed the state’s goal of enhancing value addition in he ancillary industry by 2030. He highlighted government initiatives aimed at promoting eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

Shashi Sekhar Mohanty, Chairman of CII Odisha State Council, outlined the state’s strategic focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, technology, steel, and renewable energy. He underscored the significant investments pouring into these sectors, signalling a promising future for Odisha’s economy.

The event also featured the presentation of the CII State Level Quality Circle Excellence and SHE Awards 2022-23, showcasing achievements in quality management and safety standards.

PK Hota, President & Group CSR at Jindal Steel & Power Limited, shared valuable insights contributing to the optimism surrounding Odisha’s economic trajectory.

Other speakers, including Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of TATA Steel SEZ Ltd, and CP Bhartia, Managing Director of Jagdamba Polymers Pvt Ltd, also shared their perspectives during the session, further highlighting the potential for growth and investment in the region.
