Bhubaneswar, April 29, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Aryan Agarwal, a student enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at KiiT International School here, has made a significant mark by participating in The Diamond Challenge Summit held in the USA this month. This summit is renowned as the largest entrepreneurship challenge for high school students globally, drawing participants from various corners of the world.
Inspired by the innovative environment fostered at KiiT International School’s SEN Globe program, Aryan conceptualized and developed an ingenious device called “Dristhi.” This device is designed to assist visually impaired individuals by utilizing image processing-based algorithms. It detects real-world objects such as cars, bikes, or trucks in real-time and provides audio feedback on the direction from which the object is approaching.
Aryan’s remarkable creation earned him victory in the category of “Social Innovation: Technology that Impacts Lives” at The Diamond Challenge Summit. As a result, he was awarded USD 1500 along with additional grant support totaling approximately Rs. 2.5 lakh.
Guided by Mohit Sharma from KiiT International School, Aryan’s journey from conceptualization to the development of the final model was supported by KIIT Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Centre of Excellence.Aryan’s remarkable achievement not only highlights his entrepreneurial spirit but also underscores the commitment of KiiT International School to nurture innovation and excellence among its students.
