To celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence, The Ministry of Power in association with NTPC Kaniha organized the ‘Bijli Mahotsav’ under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Kamakhyanagar in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha on Friday.
The program was inaugurated by Archana Puhan, Zilla Parishad President, Dhenkanal, Bilasini Sethi, Zilla Parishad Vice President. Ramesh Chandra Sethi, ADM Dhenkanal, Jyoti Sankar Saho, Sub Collector, Kamakhyanagar and Bikash Kumar Mohanty, BDO Kamakyanagar were also present on the occasion.
During the program, educational films on schemes and power projects of the Central and State Governments as well as the development work and progress made in the power sector in the last years were showcased. The event also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences.
The Bijli Mahotsav is a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the State and the Central Governments and highlight the key achievements of the power sector. Some of the key highlights have been an increase in generation capacity from 2,48,554 MW in 2014 to 4,00,000 MW, which is 1,85,000 MW more than the demand.
Various cultural programmes, street plays on the power sector were also organized at the event, which saw a large turnout of crowd from nearby villages and districts.
