The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on Sunday joined the world in observing the International Day of Persons With Disabilities. PPA organised a programme at its Administrative Building here to mark the occasion.
PPA Chairman PL Haranadh who graced the event as the chief guest, saluted the spirit of determination of the school saying that PPA would take necessary steps within its ambit for the all-round development of the school.
The PPA Chairman also announced financial assistance worth Rs 25,000 to Laxmi Singh, a Class X student of Jagruty School who participated in the Indian Blind & Para Judo championship held at Amritsar recently.
He also distributed gifts to the differently-abled employees of Paradip Port Authority.
Paradip Ladies Club President P Girija Sundari presented school kits to the children of Jagruty. The Club also offered monetary assistance to the school.
PPA Secretary Dr. PN Bahekar, and DC Capt. Alekh Sahoo were also present on the occasion.
Every year, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities and explore ideas on how we can work together to ensure that equal rights are provided to each of them. Integration of people with disabilities is important in every aspect of life, mostly political, social, economic and cultural. This day is dedicated to exploring the ways to ensure that their well-being is respected.
