Prez Murmu launches NABARD’s development programmes in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district

On her visit to Mayurbhanj district on Thursday, President Drouopadi Murmu took some time off her busy schedule to inaugurate a tribal development project, a livelihood project on mushroom cultivation and a community centre supported by NABARD at Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district in the presence of Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, NABARD Chairman and its Odisha Regional Office Chief General Manager.

President Murmu congratulated NABARD on the efforts it is putting for holistic development of agriculture and rural development even in the remotest parts of the country. She urged Government officials, NABARD, banks and NGOs and all other stakeholders to go an extra mile and work in a coordinated manner for bringing about overall development of rural areas.

The Tribal Development Project will touch the lives of 100 tribal families of Pahadpur village and another 400 families from the adjoining villages. The aim of the project is to increase the annual income of each family to Rs.1 lakh from one acre of land. Mango and cashew plantation is proposed to be taken up in the project area. An amount of Rs.5.16 crore is being provided by NABARD as grant assistance for the implementation of the project

The livelihood project covers 90 SHG women from Pahadpur village. Rs.10 lakh has been sanctioned by NABARD for this activity. Under the project, training and capacity building will be provided to the women for taking up mushroom cultivation.

A Community Centre will also be set up at Pahadpur village with the support from NABARD.

All the activities inaugurated by the President of India will be uplifting the lives of the rural poor of Pahadpur village and help them in creating a sustainable future for them.
