PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter hosts roundtable celebrating ‘Women in Communication

In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2024, the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) convened an insightful roundtable discussion under the theme ‘Celebrating Women in Communication’. The event, aligned with this year’s International Women’s Day theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’, brought together industry leaders and professionals to explore the pivotal role of women in the field of communication.

Addressing the gathering, Rupali Kar, AGM (PR, Media, and Corporate Communications) at JSW, emphasized the importance of empowering the next generation of women professionals to lead fulfilling lives and pursue their aspirations. She underscored the need for promoting happiness and confidence among young girls, urging society to foster a supportive environment that encourages assertiveness and curiosity.

Sharing her experience as a HR leader, CSM Technologies CHRO Lagna Pany highlighted the remarkable contributions of women in the domains of public relations, media, and strategic communication. Drawing on her experience as an HR leader, she emphasized the innate compassion and sensitivity that women bring to these roles, emphasizing their unparalleled ability to connect with people.

As a Guest speaker, Kalinga Hospital Managing Director Nilanjana Mukherjee shed light on the importance of effective communication in the healthcare industry. Recognizing the predominance of women in healthcare, she advocated for improved communication skills among healthcare professionals to better address the emotional needs of patients and their families, stressing the importance of gender equality in the workplace.

PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Chairman Shashank Pattnaik delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the significance of gender equality and sensitivity in fostering an inclusive work environment. He highlighted the inspiring leadership of women in communication and reiterated the importance of creating equal opportunities for all.

Speaking at the roundtable, discussion, former Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, Amarjyoti Mohapatra, shared insights into the evolution of public communication, citing historical examples such as Rosa Parks’ strategic communication tactics during the civil disobedience movement in the US. He underscored the power of effective communication in driving social change and highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusivity in communication strategies.

The program, coordinated by Amtrita Kundu and facilitated by PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Secretary Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas among members of PRSI Bhubaneswar and healthcare professionals.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions to the enriching discussion.
