SAIL-run Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has taken a significant step towards addressing malnutrition among school children by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for Nutrition, Anand, Gujarat, and the District Administration of Sundargarh.

The MoU aims to provide nutritious pasteurized fortified flavored packaged milk to primary school children in the Bisra Block under the flagship CSR Gift Milk Programme.

The MoU, signed on February 6, 2024, signifies the continuation of this noble CSR initiative, which was initially launched in December 2023 under the guidance of RSP Director In-Charge, Atanu Bhowmick.

PK Swain, CGM (TA & CSR), signed the MoU on behalf of RSP, S Regapathi, Executive Director, represented NDDB, and Amulya Kumar Padhan, District Education Officer, signed on behalf of the District Administration of Sundargarh.

This new MoU will be effective from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, for a duration of one year, with a total expenditure of Rs. 60 lakh allocated for the program. The scope of the initiative has been expanded in the new MoU, with the number of beneficiary schools increased from 20 to 28 and the number of beneficiary students increased from 1150 to 1470.

Under this unique CSR initiative, each child in the beneficiary schools receives a 200ml fortified flavored milk packet on all working days, aiming to combat malnutrition levels among children attending government schools.

This initiative underscores SAIL’s commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to addressing critical issues such as malnutrition in the communities it serves.
