SPARSA honored with “Best Health Care CSR Project” Award at THIT 2024

SPARSA, a groundbreaking initiative led by the Angul District Administration and JSP Foundation in collaboration with MedTel, has been recognized with the “Best Health Care CSR Project” award at the 11th International Conference on Transforming Health Care with IT (THIT 2024) held in Bangalore on Friday.

During the ceremony organized by Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, CEO Vikram Thaploo and Chief Medical Information Officer & Vice President Dr. Sujoy Kar from Apollo Telehealth and Apollo Hospital, respectively, praised the significant impact of the SPARSA project on maternal and child health care in Angul District. They presented the award to Jhilli Khatua of JSP Foundation and Dr. Lalit Manik, CEO of Medtel.

The SPARSA project, aimed at facilitating Safe Pregnancy & ANC Through Real-time Surveillance Activity, was inaugurated on August 15, 2023, by Odisha Minister of Industry & Power, Pratap Keshari Deb, in Angul District.

Supported by the JSP Foundation, the project deployed 200 Digital Diagnostic Kits in Health subcenters across Angul District, enabling the digitization of Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) sessions with real-time data-capturing features.

Encompassing 1364 VHSND points, the project has directly benefited approximately 20,000 pregnant women while effectively identifying and managing high-risk pregnancies.

Expressing gratitude upon receiving the award, Prashant Hota, Group Head (CSR) of JSP Foundation, emphasized the collaborative efforts involved in spearheading the SPARSA Project. “JSP Foundation spearheaded the project as the core partner to the Angul District Administration while MedTel provided invaluable technical expertise for flawless implementation of the project,” said hota while acknowledging MedTel for providing invaluable technical expertise and credited the success of the initiative to the dedicated personnel and support from the District Administration.

JSP Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal expressed pride in the collaborative efforts for the SPARSA project, highlighting its significant contributions to accelerating Ante Natal checkups and real-time identification of High-Risk Pregnancies through IT support in Angul district. “I am proud of the collaborations for the SPARSA project for their groundbreaking initiatives in accelerating Ante Natal checkups and real time identification of High Risk Pregnancy through IT support in Angul district,  and thankful to the State Government and District Administration for providing JSP Foundation this opportunity to serve to  the People of Angul,” said the JSP Foundation Chairperson.
