Tata Power, under its “Train to Hire” initiative, has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious technical institutes across Odisha, marking a pivotal moment in its journey to empower young engineering students for a future in the industry. The primary objective of this initiative is to equip distribution sector enthusiasts with essential skills through advanced training programs, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.

On August 9 Tata Power cemented another transformative alliance adding to its previous collaborations, this time with the World Skill Centre (WSC). As a premier advanced skill training institute established by the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), WSC holds the promise of nurturing skilled professionals poised to make significant contributions to the industry.

The MoU was formalized by Subir Kumar Verma, Cluster Head – Business HR (T&D), Tata Power and Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary, SDTE Department-cum-COO of WSC.

Integral to the success of this initiative were Mirza S Baig, Team L&D (Odisha Discom) at Tata Power, and Rajan Pradhan from WSC, who played pivotal roles in ensuring seamless coordination, contributing to the triumphant execution of these programs.

On August 8, Tata Power sealed a collaboration with the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER). The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Subir Kumar Verma, Cluster Head – Business HR (T&D), Tata Power, and Prof. Sitikantha Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor of ITER.

Tata Power’s commitment to youth empowerment is evident through its collaborations with leading Odisha universities. The MoUs with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Silicon Institute of Technology (SIT) on 22nd July, 2023 in Bhubaneswar aim to nurture students pursuing courses on emerging trends and technologies in the power sector. This collaboration underscores Tata Power’s consistent efforts to provide youth with future-ready skills, bridging the gap between education and employability.

Another remarkable collaboration came to fruition on 14th July, 2023 at Sarang, where Tata Power joined forces with Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology. The MoU signed between Tata Power and the Institute aims to create a talent pool in the power sector. Through a specially curated 6-month training program, engineering and diploma students will enhance their knowledge competency and share best practices. This collaboration underscores Tata Power’s dedication to shaping the talent landscape in the sector and creating more employment opportunities for Odisha’s youth.

As Tata Power propels its “Train to Hire” initiative, the company remains committed to shaping the future of aspiring engineers. By partnering with esteemed institutions in Odisha, Tata Power is nurturing young minds to harness the boundless potential of the power sector, empowering them to drive progress and innovation in the industry.

Elaborating the significance of these collaborations, TPCODL CEO Arvind Singh said, “We are committed to shaping the talent landscape in the sector by grooming young minds for the future. Through this partnership, we aim to create more employment opportunities for the youth of Odisha and enhance the industry’s trained workforce.”

Affirming this sentiment, Subir Verma said, “We want to offer our expertise to convert local educated youth of Odisha into industry-ready talent by offering those exclusive modules, real-time live projects, senior managers as faculty, and mentors to make them industry-ready in 6 months. We are glad to partner with these institutions and look forward to working together to create talent for the power distribution sector in India.”

These transformative steps underscore Tata Power’s commitment to steer young minds toward a future brimming with potential, empowering them to lead the charge in shaping industries and powering progress.
