Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has successfully energized the Puri Jagannath Heritage Corridor (Shreemandir Parikrama Prakalpa), marking a significant milestone in enhancing the infrastructure for devotees visiting the sacred city of Puri.

The ambitious project included the establishment of a robust electrical system for the heritage corridor, encompassing facilities such as the multi-level car parking at Jail Road, parking at Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, Mahodadhi Market Complex, Municipality Market Complex, AC Hangar, and EV charging infrastructure at Samanga parking place. The execution of the project showcased TPCODL’s meticulous planning and unwavering commitment.

Approximately 300 dedicated officials worked tirelessly around the clock, strategically positioned at changeover points and 33/11 kV Primary Substations (PSS). Their responsibilities included preventive maintenance of feeders and substations throughout the town, conducting leakage current testing, and ensuring redundant power supply arrangements across all voltage levels.

TPCODL also fortified its operational capacity to deliver high-quality service. Critical Primary Substations (PSS) saw enhancements, with the Power Transformer (PTR) at the 33/11kV Talabania PSS upgraded from 8 MVA to 12.5/16 MVA to accommodate increased load demand.

In adherence to safety standards, fire extinguishers have been installed at critical installations, such as PSS, Compact Sub Station (CSS), and Distribution Substation (DSS). This safety measure aligns with TPCODL’s commitment to maintaining a secure work environment and safeguarding its infrastructure. The company also ensured proper metering for all temporary electrical connections, providing 23 connections across 15 locations to meet a power demand of approximately 2200 KW. Additionally, dedicated diesel generator (DG) backup arrangements were made to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Expressing the company’s commitment to powering progress, TPCODL CEO Arvind Singh said, “Our dedicated teams, robust infrastructure, and focus on safety and reliability are the pillars that enable us to illuminate the holy city. We take immense pride in powering Puri and are deeply grateful to the Government of Odisha for providing us the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the inauguration of the Shreemandir Parikrama Prakalpa.”
