BHUBANESWAR, JANUARY 13, 2026

“Professional success must walk hand in hand with service to society and the nation,” said R K Sharma, Special Secretary, Home Department, Government of Odisha, as he addressed hundreds of aspiring Company Secretaries at Yuvotsav 2026, organised by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Eastern India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. His words set the tone for the two-day student-centric celebration held on January 11 and 12, 2026, which sought to blend professional excellence with the timeless values of Swami Vivekananda.

Gracing the inaugural session as Chief Guest on January 11, R K Sharma urged students enrolled in the Company Secretary course to imbibe the ideals of self-reliance, self-confidence, integrity and nation-building championed by Swami Vivekananda. He encouraged them to define clear life goals and pursue them with unwavering determination and discipline, reminding them that corporate responsibility cannot be separated from social responsibility. Emphasising that governance and public administration are deeply influenced by ethical values, he advised students to cultivate small positive habits, maintain a constructive mindset and continuously strive for excellence, as these traits ultimately shape both character and professional success. Extending his best wishes, he inspired the youth to live by Vivekananda’s clarion call, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”

Adding an energising dimension to the inaugural session, Special Guest Satyajit Pratihari, Mr India, Mr Asia and celebrity fitness trainer, called upon students to practise patience, self-determination and humility in their journey towards success. He lauded the ICSI for organising Yuvotsav on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, describing it as a meaningful platform for holistic development of future professionals.

The programme continued on January 12 with a special motivational talk by Rajyogini Sister B K Leena of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya. She wished the students a balanced and fulfilling life, advising them to support and respect their parents, nurture love and cooperation among peers, and avoid unnecessary thoughts that disturb mental peace.

Yuvotsav 2026 was marked by vibrant student participation, including a Walkathon and Road Show undertaken by students and members of the Bhubaneswar Chapter, symbolising youth energy and social awareness. As many as 15 competitions were organised across the two days, with winners felicitated during the valedictory session, while all participants received certificates in recognition of their involvement.

Addressing the gathering, CS Sasmita Panda, Chairperson, CS Srimanta Baboo, Vice Chairman, and CS Jyotirmaya Panigrahi, Treasurer of the Bhubaneswar Chapter, motivated students to uphold the dignity and responsibility associated with the profession.
