IT services major
HCLTech is scaling up its operations in South Africa with the opening of a new
regional headquarters in Johannesburg, which will house an Artificial
Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence.
Located in Sandton,
the new facility is aimed at strengthening HCLTech’s technology innovation and
delivery capabilities for enterprises across South Africa and the wider region,
the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday.
The AI Centre of
Excellence will provide clients access to HCLTech’s full-stack AI portfolio,
including AI-led service transformation, industry-specific AI solutions, AI
engineering, AI foundry, AI factory and advisory offerings.
The centre will also
serve as a dedicated training hub to nurture technology talent and strengthen
South Africa’s digital workforce, the company said.
“South Africa has been a strategic market for HCLTech for over 15 years, and we are proud to be a trusted partner to enterprises in the region. With our differentiated portfolio that includes full-stack AI solutions, we are deepening our commitment to South Africa with this new facility,” said Sandeep Saxena, Chief Growth Officer, Growth Markets 2 (India, Middle East and Africa, France, Iberia, and Italy) at HCLTech.
The expansion underscores HCLTech’s growing focus on artificial intelligence and its efforts to build local technology capabilities while supporting enterprises in their digital transformation journey.
