Odisha has been conferred the prestigious Wind India 2026 Award for “Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking” at the Windergy India 2026 summit, recognising the state’s efforts to accelerate clean energy development and create an investor-friendly ecosystem for renewable power projects.

The award was received by GRIDCO Managing Director Dr Satyapriya Rath from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi in the presence of senior government officials and industry leaders.

Welcoming the recognition, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the award reflects the state government’s commitment to accelerating Odisha’s clean energy transition, attracting private investment and creating an enabling ecosystem for sustainable power generation under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.

The recognition comes as Odisha steps up efforts to position itself as a major emerging destination for wind energy investment in the country.

As part of its participation in Windergy India 2026, the state organised a dedicated session titled “Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination” to showcase its untapped wind energy potential to domestic and global investors.

Setting the context for the session, Rath highlighted Odisha’s strategic advantages and key policy enablers aimed at translating the state’s wind potential into bankable and scalable projects.

The discussions focused on the theme “From Potential to Investment”, with emphasis on critical execution parameters including wind resource assessment and project bankability, land and site readiness, grid connectivity, turbine logistics and long-term regulatory certainty.

The state’s participation at the industry summit, coupled with the Wind India 2026 recognition and strong engagement from investors and industry stakeholders, is expected to strengthen Odisha’s position in India’s expanding renewable energy landscape.

The award also underscores the state’s efforts to reduce project-development risks and provide greater policy and infrastructure certainty to investors seeking to participate in the country’s clean energy transition.

With its focus on de-risking wind projects and strengthening the enabling ecosystem, Odisha is seeking to convert its emerging wind resource potential into commercially viable renewable energy investments, officials said.
