Mahatma Gandhi once
said, “Strength does not come from physical capacity; it comes from an
indomitable will.” For Anita Sahoo, a young divyang woman from Amuniapatana
village in Nimapara block of Puri district, this timeless thought reflects her
inspiring journey of perseverance, courage, and success in the face of
formidable challenges.
Anita, who is 80 per
cent divyang, has consistently demonstrated remarkable determination to rise
above physical limitations and pursue her aspirations. Proudly reflecting on
her journey, she says, “I am 80 per cent divyang, but I have always tried to
overcome my physical constraints and move forward on the path of progress to
fulfil my dreams. At a time when I was searching for a career opportunity that
I could pursue from home, Jio’s work-from-home role as a ‘Jio Customer
Associate’ proved immensely beneficial. With the income I earned, I was able to
realise my long-cherished dream of purchasing a motorised wheelchair, enabling
me to move independently for the first time since childhood.”
Recognising her
dedication and inspiring determination, Jio Odisha Business Head Gaurav Kumar
interacted with Anita through a video call and applauded her resilience and
unwavering commitment to succeed despite numerous obstacles.
Anita’s story has
emerged as a powerful source of motivation for thousands of women across
Odisha, encouraging them to explore flexible career opportunities from the
comfort of their homes while managing their own schedules. Drawing from her
experience, Anita emphasises, “With self-confidence and the belief that ‘I can
do it,’ women can work from home or from anywhere, earn a respectable income,
and achieve their life goals. Today, more than 2,600 girls and women in Odisha
are working as Jio Customer Associates and steadily moving towards financial
independence.”
She further
highlighted that the Jio Associate programme has significantly contributed to
empowering women by providing them with meaningful livelihood opportunities.
Anita expressed optimism that such initiatives will continue to create pathways
for women to progress, prosper, and remain self-reliant.
The Jio Customer
Associate (JCA) programme has emerged as an aspirational platform enabling
women to become economically independent through flexible, freelancing-based
engagements. It allows participants to work at their convenience while
supporting customers in digital services such as mobile recharges,
familiarising them with online payment methods, and assisting prospective users
in choosing products such as JioAirFiber. Through continuous training, skill
enhancement, and access to digital tools, JCAs develop customer service
expertise, productivity skills, and professional confidence, enabling them to
grow personally while contributing to Jio’s vision of Digital Life for every
Indian.
For countless Jio
users, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, the JCA programme has proved
highly beneficial, as customers are able to communicate in their local
languages and dialects. This personalised assistance helps bridge communication
gaps, enabling users to better understand products and services and make informed
choices. Anita’s journey stands as a shining example of how determination,
combined with the right opportunity, can transform lives and inspire many
others to dream bigger and achieve more.
