Founder and Chairperson Nita M. Ambani congratulated the Indian contingent for
its performance at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, applauding the
country’s athletes for producing moments of pride and highlighting the leading
role played by women competitors in India’s medal success.
India finished fourth
in the overall medal standings with 85 medals, with the Games also witnessing
Indian athletes secure qualification quotas for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic
Games besides several notable performances across disciplines.
“Heartiest congratulations to our Indian
contingent at the Asian Games 2026 for giving us so many moments of joy and
pride. It has been especially wonderful to see our women athletes lead India’s
medal success, inspire young girls, and bring glory to the nation,” Ms. Ambani
said.
She also lauded the
performances of athletes supported by the Reliance Foundation, saying their
achievements underscored the importance of nurturing young sporting talent.
“I am also proud of our Reliance Foundation
athletes whose achievements reaffirm our belief in young talent and strengthen
our commitment to support the future of Indian sport,” she said.
Through its
programmes and partnerships, the Reliance Foundation contributed to 29 of
India’s 85 medals at the Games. As many as 48 athletes supported by the
Foundation represented India in Aichi-Nagoya, while the Foundation also served
as a sponsor of Team India.
Ambani thanked every
member of the Indian contingent for their contribution to the country’s
campaign.
“To every athlete who wore the India colours with pride – thank you and well done,” she said.
India’s campaign in Aichi-Nagoya, marked by a strong showing from its women athletes and a series of significant performances, has also provided momentum as the country looks ahead to the LA 2028 Olympics.
