NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters celebrates 75th Republic Day

The 75th Republic Day was celebrated at the Coal Mining Headquarters (CMHQ) in Ranchi on Friday, with profound pride and patriotic fervor.

Animesh Jain, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTPC Mining Limited (NML) & Regional Executive Director (RED) of Coal Mining, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and unfurled the tricolor to mark the celebrations.

During the event, Jain emphasized NTPC’s pivotal role as the largest contributor to the nation’s energy security, powering every fourth bulb in the country with an installed capacity of 73,874 MW. He highlighted the significant contribution of NTPC’s coal mining business in supporting its core operations. He proudly announced that NTPC-NML achieved a record coal production of 27.5 million metric tons (MMT) in the current fiscal year, marking a remarkable year-on-year growth of 65%, with coal dispatches reaching 28.5 MMT, a 77% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.

Jain also announced the commencement of coal production from the Kerendari Coal Mining Project on January 25, 2024, making it NTPC’s fifth coal mine to contribute to its fuel supply. Additionally, he mentioned the upcoming start of coal production from the Badam coal mining project in the fiscal year 2023-24. He commended the employees for their unwavering commitment and dedication, which led to the record coal production and dispatches from NTPC’s mines to its power stations.

The CEO of NML & RED (Coal Mining) outlined NTPC Mining Limited’s vision of self-reliance in mining, aiming to achieve 50 MMT before NTPC’s 50th anniversary this year. Furthermore, NML aspires to cater to 30% of NTPC’s coal requirement by 2030 and aims to meet 50% of the coal requirement by 2037, thereby supporting NTPC’s long-term energy goals.
