19th Paradip Marathon to be held on Jan 3 to mark PPA Foundation Day celebrations

The 19th edition of the Paradip Marathon will be held on January 3, 2024 on the occasion of the Foundation Day of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA).

PPA Chairman PL Haranadh will flag off the marathon from the Hanuman Temple near Gate No. 5 of the Paradip Port. It will culminate at Gopabandhu Stadium, covering a distance of 14 km. The route will be identified and route chart will be provided to all the participants.

The participants must be above 18 years and below 40 years of age as on December 31, 2023 and have to submit fitness certificate from a government medical officer or medical officer of Paradip Port Hospital. A panel of doctors from Port Trust will also be made available to check the fitness of participants, in case of necessity.

While a male participant will have to deposit an entry fee of Rs 50, a female participant will have to pay Rs 30 as participation fee. The participants will be supplied with a set of vest and shorts and chest numbers. All outstation participants will be provided with unfurnished accommodation and dinner on January 2, 2024. On the Marathon day, breakfast will be provided to all participants after the Marathon at Gopabandhu Stadium.

Application along with medical fitness certificate, undertaking, photocopy of Voter ID/Aadhaar Card and Age proof certificate and entry fee in cash will be received at the time of registration. Registration of participants will be made on January 1-2, 2024 at the Gopabandhu Stadium here, PPA said in a press release on Friday.

The first prize winner in the Men’s and Women’s categories will receive cash prize of Rs 14,000 each; while the first and second runners-up title winners will be awarded Rs 10,500 and Rs 7000, respectively. The 4th, 5th and 6th position holders will also be awarded with cash prize.

The first 150 participants in the Men’s category and first 50 participants in the Women’s category covering the distance of 14 KM will be given mementos; while other participants who complete the distance within 2 hours, will be given certificate of participation.
