Bajaj Auto Limited, a global leader in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler industry, unveiled its latest innovation in sustainable mobility – the XL Cargo E-Tec 12.0, an electric cargo three-wheeler. The launch event, held in the presence of key dignitaries, including Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Sulochana Das, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Cuttack RTO Sanjay Kumar Behera, Cuttack MVI Biswajit Dash and Bajaj Auto Limited VP (Sales) Rajeev Verma, marked the company’s commitment to ushering in a new era of efficient and eco-friendly transportation.
Bajaj Auto’s cargo electric three-wheelers are a part of the company’s nationwide rollout strategy, encompassing both cargo and passenger variants. With a legacy of over five decades and the trust of more than 75 lakh three-wheeler buyers, Bajaj Auto aims to redefine last-mile transportation with its electric vehicles.
Manufactured at Bajaj’s state-of-the-art plant in Waluj, the XL Cargo E-Tec 12.0 boasts a robust design, ensuring high performance in range, load-carrying capacity, and gradeability. Developed in-house at Bajaj’s world-class R&D center, these three-wheelers are equipped with advanced features, including an IP67 rated Li-ion battery, two-speed automatic transmission, and a highly efficient Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) motor.
One of the standout features of the cargo electric three-wheelers is the convenience in charging. The IP67 rated battery can be charged at any 16-amp, 220 V electrical outlet, eliminating the need for a heavy charger. Furthermore, the vehicles come with large tubeless radial tyres, enhancing driving comfort, and ensuring easy repairs.
The durability of the cargo electric three-wheelers is reinforced by a strong metal body and CV shaft, reducing maintenance costs. The vehicles underwent extensive real-world testing, covering a cumulative distance of 15 lakh kilometres, guaranteeing optimal performance and reliability. Bajaj Auto’s commitment to customer satisfaction is further exemplified through a robust warranty and a 24/7 roadside assistance program.
Priced at Rs. 3,97,833 (ex-showroom Bhubaneswar/Cuttack, post FAME II incentive), the XL Cargo E-Tec 12.0 comes with an 11.8 kWh battery, providing an impressive range of 183 km, as per ARAI certification. Rajeev Verma, Bajaj Auto Limited’s VP (Sales), expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are delighted to present the new Bajaj cargo electric three-wheeler. Range, load carrying capability, and gradeability are a priority. To ensure after-sales support, we have set up a round-the-clock service. Subsequently, we will expand our distribution to cities across India.”
