MoPSW to hold roadshow for Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Bhubaneswar on Sept 5

The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) will hold a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, as a precursor to the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023. To be virtually inaugurated by Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the roadshow will   bring together government dignitaries, industry captains, maritime stakeholders, and enthusiasts.

Odisha Industries Department Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma, Commerce & Transport Department Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, MoPSW Joint Secretary (Sagarmala) Bhushan Kumar, Gopalpur Ports Ltd.  Chief Executive Officer V Janardhana Rao, Dhamra Port Chief Executive Officer Devendra Thakar, Paradip Port Chairman PL Haranadh and Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta will grace the event

Anchored by the Paradip Port Authority, the Bhubaneswar roadshow is a precursor to the third Global Maritime India Summit later this year, which will assemble government dignitaries, industry captains, maritime stakeholders, and enthusiasts. The Summit is poised to be a landmark event that will shape the industry’s future, fortifying India’s position as a global maritime leader.

Union Minister Sonowal articulated his anticipation for the roadshow, declaring, “Drawing inspiration from the forward-thinking guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, the Ministry is orchestrating the GMIS, scheduled to take place from October 17 to 19, 2023, in New Delhi.”

“Positioned at the heart of India’s maritime domain, Paradip Port plays a vital and irreplaceable role, forming a crucial foundation for the nation’s journey of progress. The significant and remarkable input from this area enhances both trade and links, thus nurturing a wider expanse of economic growth. More than just a maritime entry point, this port embodies the economic strength of the region and stands as a concrete symbol of our steadfast commitment to boosting trade, promoting connections, and nurturing social unity,” he added.

The Union Minister further said that the deliberations and partnerships during the roadshow in Bhubaneswar will chart the course for a prosperous Global Maritime India Summit 2023; and the gathering will provide a forum for all interested parties to uncover and leverage the vast opportunities within the maritime domain.

The event will further showcase stimulating dialogues that are expected to redefine the journey of the maritime sector.

GMIS 2023 is a premier maritime sector focussed event to bring together pivotal figures from the industry to explore opportunities, understand challenges, and stimulate investment within India’s maritime sector. Building upon the legacy of its preceding editions, this third instalment aims to unveil broader prospects for domestic and international maritime stakeholders and investors. Ready to make its presence felt on the global stage and spotlight India’s maritime industry, the Maritime India Summit has now evolved to the ‘Global’ Maritime India Summit this year.

The summit is slated for 17th to 19th October 2023, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with FICCI as the exclusive industry partner.
