RSP registers impressive performance in April-May 2023

SAIL-run Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) demonstrated impressive performance in key production areas in the first two months of the Financial Year 2023-24 (FY24).

RSP produced 7,67,605 tons of Hot Metal, 6,92,333 tons of Crude Steel and 6,44,673 tons of Saleable Steel in April-May in FY24 to register a corresponding Year-on-Year (Y-O-Y) growth of 2.6 per cent, 3.3 per cent and 7.6 per cent respectively, thereby achieving the Best April-May performance for any financial year.

The Sintering Plants too excelled in sync to produce all time best April-May performance with a total sinter production of   12,18,614 tons. The Coke Oven Battery-6 clocked an average pushings of 91.3 to register its best performance in the first two months to improve upon its earlier best average of 90.4 pushings achieved in 2022.

In terms of dispatch, RSP has achieved its best April-May dispatch of Saleable Steel, totaling 6,35,544 tons, reflecting a Y-O-Y growth of 6.5 per cent.

RSP has also registered its best May production performance in Hot Metal, Crude Steel, and Saleable Steel by producing 3,94,121 tons, 3,49,912 tons, and 33,3,257 tons, respectively, providing a critical thrust to the entire production chain.

RSP has set an ambitious Annual Business Plan (ABP) target for the financial year 2023-24, aiming to produce 4.6 million tons (MT) of Hot Metal, 4.3 MT of Crude Steel, and 4.32 MT of Saleable Steel.

RSP Director In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick congratulated the collective on their consistent improvement in key areas and urged them to prioritize safety, cost-efficiency, and techno-economic factors in alignment with the increasing production trend, in order to mitigate market-driven variations and gain a competitive advantage.
