Union Minister Pradhan inaugurates IIMs’ Centre of Management Education in collaboration with NALCO, promoting Logistics sector development in Odisha

The inauguration of the Centre of Management Education jointly established by IIM Mumbai and IIM Sambalpur marked a significant milestone, as Union Minister for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, presided over the ceremony at the NALCO Training Institute in Angul on Monday. The event was graced by the presence of NALCO Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Sridhar Patra.

In his address, Minister Pradhan highlighted Angul’s industrial prowess and its reputation as a hub for coal production. He emphasized the ongoing development of rail and road infrastructures, aligning them with the PM Gati Shakti program and the newly established Centre of Management Education. The Minister underscored the program’s focus on bolstering logistics and supply chain activities through digitization, envisioning an upskilled workforce driving the growth of the logistical sector.

Minister Pradhan also lauded the mining policy reforms, citing their positive impact on Angul and Dhenkanal districts. He stressed the transformative potential of the Centre of Management Education located within the NALCO Campus at Angul, emphasizing its role in addressing the skill demands of Odisha’s logistics sector. He emphasized that the center’s reach would extend beyond Angul and Dhenkanal districts, benefiting industries across the state.

The Centre of Management Education is poised to offer three- and six-month courses on Logistics and Operations, along with a one-year Executive Post Graduate Course meticulously crafted in consultation with industry stakeholders by the esteemed faculty of IIMs. The center’s curriculum will remain adaptable, catering to evolving industry requirements over time.

This initiative holds promise for the comprehensive development of the logistics sector across various districts, including Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Cuttack. Notably, leading Public Sector Enterprises like NALCO and MCL are pivotal partners in this endeavor. MCL has already committed to enrolling forty executives per batch for the program, having signed an agreement, while NALCO has pledged support by providing infrastructure and logistical assistance.

The event saw the presence of Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwary, Director of IIM Mumbai, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal from IIM Sambalpur, along with Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel) of MCL, and Amiya Kumar Swain, Executive Director (S&P) of NALCO, among other dignitaries.
