Paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26 is progressing at a brisk pace across all 30 districts of Odisha, with the state already achieving 80 per cent of its overall procurement target. In a strong indication of the system’s efficiency, more than 13 districts have crossed the 90 per cent mark, underscoring the steady momentum of the ongoing procurement drive.

Seven districts — Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Subarnapur — have emerged as top performers, each registering over 95 per cent procurement. Subarnapur has set the benchmark by leading the state with 98 per cent achievement, procuring 3,76,556 quintals of paddy.

The progress has been equally encouraging in Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jharsuguda and Rayagada, all of which have crossed the 90 per cent procurement threshold, further reinforcing the state’s strong performance.

A comparative analysis with the previous Kharif season shows substantial growth in procurement volumes in districts such as Angul, Bolangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Subarnapur. The expansion reflects improved mandi operations, better logistics and stronger institutional coordination.

Equally significant is the rise in farmer participation. Districts including Angul, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Subarnapur have reported an increase in the number of farmers selling paddy through the procurement system. As on 24 February 2026, around 65,000 more farmers have sold their produce at mandis compared to the corresponding period last year, indicating growing trust in the state’s procurement mechanism.

Reaffirming its commitment to farmer welfare, the Government of Odisha has ensured timely procurement, transparent payment systems and strict monitoring to prevent distress sales. By guaranteeing the Minimum Support Price (MSP), the state continues to provide assured market support and financial stability to cultivators. So far, financial assistance amounting to ₹17,329.2 crore has been extended to 13,04,938 farmers towards MSP and input assistance.

To further strengthen farmer support, the state has enhanced its grievance redressal framework. Farmers seeking clarification or assistance related to procurement and payments can access the dedicated toll-free helpline number 1967.
