GURUGRAM, JANUARY 31, 2026
Reinforcing its long-standing commitment to
safer mobility, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) marked National
Road Safety Month with an extensive series of awareness initiatives conducted
across the country. Working closely with its dealer partners, traffic
authorities and local communities, HMSI rolled out month-long programmes in
multiple cities, directly engaging more than 30,000 participants and amplifying
the message of responsible road behaviour.
A key
highlight of this year’s campaign was the launch of the Jaipur Ideal Road
Safety Project, a comprehensive initiative that reflects HMSI’s holistic
approach to road safety. Built on the four pillars of Education, Enforcement,
Engineering and Emergency Response, the project integrates road safety into
everyday community life through collaboration with schools, traffic police,
local authorities and citizens. By combining awareness and training,
infrastructure improvement, stricter compliance in identified zones and
detailed analysis of critical locations, the initiative aims to reduce
accidents, strengthen first-responder preparedness and build a safety-conscious
community that can serve as a model for cities across India.
Throughout
the month, HMSI organised a wide range of engagement activities including road
safety rallies, summits, helmet distribution drives and monthly awareness
campaigns. These initiatives focused on practical learning around traffic
rules, rider responsibility and the importance of protective riding practices,
with discussions centred on riding behaviour and the need for stricter adherence
to traffic regulations. By taking road safety messaging to the grassroots
level, the company encouraged active community participation and meaningful
behavioural change.
Special
emphasis was placed on inclusivity through initiatives such as the Women’s Road
Safety Rally, designed to boost confidence and preparedness among women riders.
Participants were also provided helmets, reinforcing the importance of personal
safety and responsible riding habits.
National
Road Safety Month forms an integral part of HMSI’s continuous road safety
efforts rather than a standalone campaign. The company conducts regular
awareness programmes every month and maintains consistent engagement through
its Traffic Training Parks and Safety Driving Education Centres, ensuring that
road safety education remains ongoing and impactful.
Guided by
its global safety slogan, “Safety for Everyone,” HMSI continues to work
alongside partners to create safer roads for riders, pedestrians and
communities. The company remains aligned with Honda’s global vision announced
in 2021 to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda
motorcycles and automobiles by 2050, while supporting the Government of India’s
goal of reducing road accident fatalities by 50 percent by 2030.
At the heart
of this mission is HMSI’s focus on nurturing a positive road safety mindset
among children and young adults. Through scientifically designed learning
modules, virtual riding simulators, danger prediction training and skill-honing
activities, the company has already reached over 10 million Indians. The recent
launch of its digital learning platform, E-Gurukul, further strengthens this
effort by offering age-specific, multilingual road safety modules accessible
across regions.
