Punjab National Bank (PNB) has taken a
significant step towards strengthening inclusive finance by signing a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MSC India Consulting Pvt. Ltd., aimed at
enhancing last-mile credit access across the country. The collaboration is
designed to expand institutional credit support for women micro-entrepreneurs
while reinforcing the Self-Help Group (SHG)–Bank linkage programme under the
National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and State Rural Livelihoods Mission
(SRLM) framework.
Through this strategic partnership,
PNB and MSC India Consulting will work closely to improve credit outreach in
underserved and semi-urban regions, ensuring that women-led micro enterprises
gain timely access to formal financial services. The initiative aligns with the
broader national objective of empowering grassroots entrepreneurs,
strengthening livelihoods, and accelerating socio-economic development through
sustainable financing models.
Commenting on the signing of the MoU, Shyam
Sunder Singh, General Manager (AGRI), Punjab National Bank, said, “This
initiative is the bank’s significant step towards strengthening last-mile
credit delivery, empowering women-led enterprises, and fostering sustainable
livelihoods in India’s grassroots and semi-urban regions.” He added that
partnerships such as this play a critical role in bridging credit gaps and
bringing more women entrepreneurs into the formal banking ecosystem.
