The National Stock
Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will conduct a special
Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 8, to mark Diwali, the country’s
leading stock exchanges announced on Monday.
The special session,
traditionally associated with the beginning of a new financial year in the
Hindu calendar, will be held from 2.20 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., according to separate
circulars issued by the two exchanges.
A 15-minute
pre-opening session will precede the main trading window, running from 2.05
p.m. to 2.20 p.m.
Muhurat trading is a long-standing tradition in India’s stock market, with investors and traders participating in a symbolic session on the occasion of Diwali, regarded as an auspicious time to begin new ventures and investments.
The annual session holds significance for market participants as it combines financial activity with cultural tradition, marking the festival of lights with a brief period of trading on the country’s two principal stock exchanges.
