Celebrating a legacy spanning more than five decades of powering the
nation's growth and strengthening its energy security, NTPC Bongaigaon observed
the 52nd Raising Day of NTPC Limited with enthusiasm, pride and renewed
commitment to operational excellence, innovation and sustainable development at
its New Administrative Building on Saturday. The occasion marked 51 years of
NTPC's remarkable contribution to India's energy landscape, industrial progress
and nation-building since its establishment in 1975, while reaffirming the
collective resolve of its workforce to carry forward the organisation's legacy
of excellence.
The celebrations commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the NTPC flag
by Arnab Maitra, Executive Director and Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon,
followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet. The ceremony was attended by Anurag
Gupta, General Manager (O&M); Rajesh Kumar Maji, General Manager
(Maintenance and Ash Dyke Management); senior officials; Heads of Departments;
representatives of various unions and associations; members of welfare bodies
and the Ladies Club; and employees of NTPC Bongaigaon.
Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra reflected on NTPC's remarkable
transformation from a thermal power generation company into India's largest
integrated power utility, with an expanding footprint across conventional power
generation, renewable energy and emerging clean energy technologies. He
underscored the organisation's pivotal role in strengthening the country's
energy security and supporting India's aspirations for sustainable,
self-reliant and inclusive development.
Emphasising that organisational excellence is fundamentally driven by the
collective efforts, dedication and commitment of its people, Maitra urged
employees to continually strengthen the culture of safety, quality, operational
discipline, technological innovation and professional accountability. He also
highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon's significant contributions towards ensuring
reliable power generation in the North Eastern Region, enhancing operational
efficiency, achieving notable milestones in ash utilisation, promoting
environmental conservation and implementing impactful community development
initiatives. Calling upon the employees to remain future-ready, he encouraged
them to embrace emerging technologies, pursue continuous improvement and uphold
the highest standards of performance and professionalism in every sphere of
organisational activity.
A major highlight of the celebrations was the recognition of employees
for their outstanding professional achievements, unwavering dedication and
exemplary human values. The prestigious Employee of the Year Awards were
conferred upon five employees in recognition of their exceptional contributions
to organisational performance and their commitment to excellence. In addition,
six employees received the Power Excel Awards for demonstrating professional
competence, outstanding performance and exemplary dedication to their assigned
responsibilities. The recognitions acknowledged the vital role played by
individual employees in advancing the organisation's operational goals and
strengthening its culture of performance and excellence.
Adding a deeply meaningful and humanitarian dimension to the
celebrations, the Manveeyata Puraskar
was presented to two employees in recognition of their extraordinary
compassion, selfless humanitarian service and commitment to social
responsibility. The recognition underscored the importance of empathy, kindness
and concern for fellow human beings, reaffirming that the true strength of an
organisation lies not only in its professional accomplishments but also in the
human values upheld by its people.
The celebrations were further enlivened by the ceremonial release of
balloons and a cake-cutting ceremony, bringing employees together in a spirit
of camaraderie, shared pride and optimism for the future. The occasion also
provided an opportunity for employees to participate in the live broadcast of
the Raising Day celebrations from NTPC's Corporate Centre, which featured the
address of the Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited. The broadcast
connected the Bongaigaon workforce with the larger NTPC family, enabling
employees to collectively celebrate the organisation's achievements, reflect on
its journey and reaffirm their commitment to its future aspirations.
Earlier in the day, a walkathon and a plantation drive were organised as integral components of the Raising Day celebrations, reflecting NTPC Bongaigaon's emphasis on physical well-being, environmental awareness and sustainable living. The walkathon sought to promote fitness, healthy lifestyles and a sense of collective participation among employees, while the plantation initiative reinforced the importance of ecological conservation and environmental stewardship. Together, these initiatives extended the significance of the celebrations beyond organisational milestones, highlighting the importance of individual well-being, community participation and collective responsibility towards protecting the environment.
The occasion served as a fitting tribute to NTPC's distinguished legacy of more than five decades while reaffirming NTPC Bongaigaon's unwavering commitment to operational reliability, technological advancement, environmental sustainability and the socio-economic development of the communities it serves. As NTPC embarks on another year of its journey, the celebrations reflected the collective determination of its workforce to build upon the organisation's rich heritage, embrace emerging opportunities in the evolving energy sector and contribute meaningfully to India's transition towards a cleaner, more resilient and sustainable energy future.
