LUCKNOW, NOVEMBER 7, 2026

Marking over five decades of its significant contribution to India's power sector, NTPC celebrated its 52nd Raising Day with pride and enthusiasm at its Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) in Lucknow on Saturday. The celebrations reflected the collective spirit, unity and unwavering commitment of the NTPC family towards powering the nation's growth while embracing a sustainable and technology-driven energy future.

Ruma De Sharma, Regional Head of HR, hoisted the NTPC flag, followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet, setting a tone of pride and camaraderie for the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma traced NTPC's remarkable journey from its first project at Singrauli in 1975 to its emergence as a Maharatna company with an installed capacity of 91,668 MW as on date. She reiterated the organisation's ambitious vision of achieving 149 GW of installed capacity by 2032, underscoring its growing focus on renewable energy, sustainability and the adoption of emerging technologies to meet the country's evolving energy requirements.

Highlighting the Northern Region's significant contribution to the organisation's overall performance, she informed that the region had generated 69,964.63 million units (MU) of electricity up to November 4, 2026, accounting for 24.9 per cent of NTPC Group's total generation. The region also recorded an impressive Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 75 per cent, reflecting its operational efficiency and sustained commitment to ensuring reliable power generation. She further highlighted major upcoming projects that are set to strengthen the region's generation capacity, including the 1,600 MW Singrauli Stage-III expansion, the 2,400 MW Meja expansion and 1,000 MW solar projects in Uttar Pradesh.

Reaffirming NTPC's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development, the Northern Region has planted over 2.38 lakh saplings and achieved 86.12 per cent ash utilisation up to October 2026. These initiatives underline the organisation's continued efforts towards environmental conservation, responsible resource management and minimising its ecological footprint. NTPC is also pursuing meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across several key areas, including education, skill development, renewable energy and the empowerment of persons with disabilities, thereby extending its contribution beyond power generation to inclusive community development.

As part of the Raising Day celebrations and its commitment to social responsibility, Uttra Club extended a helping hand to an old-age home by distributing essential items, including adult diapers, fruits and snack packets. The initiative was undertaken in the presence of members of the Ladies Club Committee and reflected the organisation's spirit of compassion, care and community engagement.

The occasion also provided an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the enthusiasm and participation of employees in various activities. Winners of the Hindi Pakhwada and Swachhata Pakhwada competitions were felicitated for their achievements, acknowledging their efforts towards promoting the Hindi language and fostering awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.

The celebrations concluded on a cheerful note with a ceremonial balloon release, symbolising the aspirations, collective achievements and continued commitment of the NTPC family. The 52nd Raising Day served as a reaffirmation of NTPC's enduring legacy, its contribution to the nation's energy security and its resolve to play a leading role in India's transition towards a sustainable, self-reliant and brighter energy future.
