In a decisive push to accelerate Odisha’s all-round development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed all state departments to work with sharp focus on 15 priority action points, signalling a results-driven approach to governance. The directives came under close review at a high-level meeting held on Monday, chaired by Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, aimed at ensuring swift and effective implementation across departments.

Reviewing the progress of key works undertaken by the Works Department, Singh issued a series of firm instructions to enhance administrative efficiency and execution timelines. Underscoring the state government’s commitment to preserving linguistic pride, he reiterated that all official communication — including letters, orders and departmental correspondence — must be conducted strictly in the Odia language.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve to strengthen the administrative framework, the Principal Secretary stressed the urgent need to fill vacant posts and expedite promotions for eligible officers awaiting advancement, describing human resource readiness as critical to effective governance.

Emphasising the shift towards technology-driven administration, Singh noted that dependence on conventional file-based systems often leads to avoidable delays. He directed that all official work and file processing be carried out exclusively through the e-Office (OSWAS) platform, highlighting transparency, speed and accountability as core pillars of modern governance.

The meeting also reviewed the status of several major infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on timely completion. These include 37 ongoing road projects such as the Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan corridor to ease traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar, the Koraput–Jeypore and Brahmapur–Jeypore road projects, along with flagship initiatives like the Namo Expressway and the Atal Expressway, besides other projects in the pipeline.

Detailed deliberations were held on expediting land acquisition, forest land clearances, utility shifting and other procedural requirements that often slow down construction activity, with clear instructions to resolve bottlenecks through coordinated inter-departmental action.

The review meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Engineer-in-Chief and Special Secretary L.K. Padhi, Additional Secretaries Deepak Ranjan Das and Pradeep Sahu, Engineer-in-Chief Dhyanachand Nayak, Chief Engineer (Buildings) Priyabrat Samantaray, Chief Engineer NH-1 Narayan Patel, Chief Engineer NH-2 Deepak Panigrahi, Chief Engineer (Bridges) Arvind Tripathi, Joint Secretary Deeptiranjan Behera, Financial Advisor Ratikant Mohapatra and other senior officers.
