With Odisha gearing up to mark Rakhi Purnima with a major financial boost for women beneficiaries, the state government on Friday reviewed preparations for the disbursement of the fifth instalment under the SUBHADRA Scheme, with more than ₹5,160 crore set to be transferred directly into the bank accounts of 1,03,26,162 eligible beneficiaries.

A preparatory review meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida at the WCD Conference Hall in Bhubaneswar to take stock of arrangements for the disbursement, which is scheduled to be held in Nayagarh district on August 28 on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima.

Officials of the Department of Women & Child Development, the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) team and representatives of banks attended the meeting, which focused on ensuring that the large-scale Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) exercise is completed smoothly and without disruption.

The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed in detail the arrangements concerning DBT, identification of beneficiaries, banking facilities and other logistical preparations for the fifth instalment. She said a total of 1,03,26,162 eligible beneficiaries have been identified for the instalment and that more than ₹5,160 crore would be transferred directly to their bank accounts through the DBT mechanism on Rakhi Purnima.

Parida reviewed all arrangements to ensure smooth and seamless disbursement of the 5th instalment. She directed the concerned officials and bank representatives to complete the DBT process within the stipulated timeline, strengthen banking arrangements and take all necessary measures to ensure that beneficiaries do not face any inconvenience.

The meeting also stressed close coordination among all stakeholders and timely completion of preparations to ensure the successful disbursement of the fifth instalment under the SUBHADRA Scheme, which is expected to provide a significant financial boost to more than one crore eligible women beneficiaries across Odisha.
