In a bid to foster a robust culture of Electronics System Design and Development (ESDM), Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has embarked on a series of initiatives aimed at engaging stakeholders and ecosystem partners. Led by STPI-Bhubaneswar in collaboration with senior officials from STPI Headquarters in New Delhi, a string of impactful programs has been rolled out to invigorate the ESDM landscape.

The recent rendezvous at STPI-Bhubaneswar witnessed over 15 startups convene to deliberate on their innovative concepts and the challenges hindering their progress. Emphasizing the imperative for technological synergies between industry and academia to streamline product development cycles, the interaction underscored the necessity for meaningful collaborations to expedite time-to-market objectives.

A roundtable brainstorming session with academia further illuminated the need for interdisciplinary translational research, advocating for increased engagement between academic institutions and STPI to leverage specialized lab facilities and facilitate student internships.

In a bid to nurture the next generation of talent, STPI engaged with students, illuminating diverse career pathways within the electronics industry, spanning research, design, development, and manufacturing.

Deepening ties with the local ESDM industry, STPI delved into discussions with industry leaders, accentuating the imperative for indigenous manufacturing, while addressing challenges such as skills shortages, cost competitiveness, market connectivity, and procurement issues. Proposals for the formation of working groups aimed at charting a roadmap to bolster indigenous manufacturing were put forth.

Furthermore, engagements with senior officials from the State Electronics & IT Department shed light on Odisha’s ambitious initiatives to propel the electronics and semiconductor sector, fostering a conducive ecosystem for ESDM and fabless technology.

Under the visionary guidance of STPI Director General Arvind Kumar, these initiatives aim to elevate India’s stature in technology leadership, bolstering software and IT exports while nurturing innovation-driven entrepreneurship nationwide.

Spearheaded by a dedicated team of senior officials including STPI-Bhubaneswar Director Surya Kumar Pattanayak, STPI HQ Director Ashok Kumar Gupta, and STPI Advisor Praveen Mathur, these initiatives mark a pivotal stride towards catalyzing India’s ascent as a global tech powerhouse.
