AIIMS Bhubaneswar organised a Walkathon to mark Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, with enthusiastic participation from doctors, faculty members, officers, staff and students of medical, nursing and paramedical disciplines, highlighting the importance of integrity, transparency and ethical conduct in public life.

The Walkathon, held on Friday, aimed to spread awareness about the significance of vigilance and encourage individuals to uphold honesty and integrity in their personal and professional lives. On the occasion, an Integrity Pledge Ceremony was also organised, with Executive Director Dr Ashutosh Biswas administering the pledge to participants.

The programme witnessed the presence of Dean (Academic) Dr Dillip Kumar Parida, Medical Superintendent Dr Prabhas Ranjan Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer Dr Manoj Kumar Mohanty and Deputy Director (Administration) Lt Col Abhijit Sarkar.

As part of the week-long observance, the premier medical institute organised a series of awareness and outreach activities, including a Gram Sabha at Sijua village, a quiz competition, a poster design competition and a capacity-building programme for faculty members and staff.

The Gram Sabha at Sijua village focused on sensitising rural residents about the importance of integrity, transparency, accountability and responsible citizenship. The initiative sought to underline how ethical values and public awareness can contribute to building an informed and responsible society.

A key highlight of the observance was a capacity-building programme for faculty members and staff, featuring former IPS officer Shri M. Akhaya as the resource person. The session emphasised the importance of vigilance, ethical decision-making, transparency and accountability in professional and public life.

Earlier, at the commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, AIIMS Bhubaneswar participated in the Integrity Pledge Ceremony administered by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda.

Reinforcing its commitment to institutional integrity, pledge ceremonies were also conducted across all departments and sections of the institute, with active participation from faculty members, officers and staff.

Through these initiatives, AIIMS Bhubaneswar reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of honesty, accountability and transparency while encouraging both its institutional community and the public to make integrity an integral part of everyday life.
