Steel India (AM/NS India), under its CSR flagship Project ‘Aarogya’, observed
National Nutrition Month across its operational areas in Odisha, with a focus
on promoting healthy dietary practices among women, children and adolescent
girls.
In Paradeep,
awareness programmes were organised at the Nuagarh Gram Panchayat office and
the Chakradharpur Anganwadi Centre to underline the importance of balanced
nutrition. The programme was attended by Nuagarh Sarpanch Debendra Rout and
AM/NS India’s Chief Medical Officer, Odisha, Dr. Rajesh Mishra.
Addressing the
gathering, Dr. Mishra stressed the need for a balanced diet enriched with
essential nutrients for healthy growth and overall well-being. More than 200 people,
including Anganwadi, ASHA and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) workers,
adolescent girls and women from nearby villages, participated in the programme.
Similar awareness
sessions were held at Anganwadi Centres in Kalmang and Sagasahi villages,
drawing more than 100 local women, children, schoolteachers and grassroots
health workers.
Dr. Anil Mahto,
Medical Officer, CSR Dispensary, AM/NS India, Kalmang, and Dr. Srikant Rath,
doctor with the company’s Mobile Medical Unit, spoke on the importance of balanced
nutrition and healthy dietary habits. Participants also took a pledge to help
break the cycle of malnutrition and contribute towards building healthier
communities.
At the Thakurani mine
area, National Nutrition Month was observed at the Munda Shahi Anganwadi Centre
in Dalki village. The programme focused on healthy eating practices and the
role of nutrition in improving community health.
Dr. Subrat Dhal, Medical Officer, CSR Dispensary, AM/NS India, Dalki, highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and encouraged households to develop backyard kitchen gardens to improve access to fresh and nutritious food.
Through Project ‘Aarogya’, AM/NS India is expanding its nutrition-awareness initiatives to villages across its operational areas in Odisha. The company said the outreach was aimed at empowering women, children and adolescent girls and fostering healthier, stronger and more resilient communities.
