Declaring that Bharat Tex has evolved into a globally recognised platform for trade, investment, innovation and policy dialogue, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday inaugurated Bharat Tex 2026, India's flagship global textile exhibition, saying the event reflects growing global confidence in the country's manufacturing strength and long-term growth potential.

Addressing the inaugural session at Bharat Mandapam, Singh said Bharat Tex, now in its third edition, has emerged as the world's largest integrated textile value chain event, reinforcing India's position as a preferred global sourcing destination. Organised by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) with the support of the Ministry of Textiles, the four-day event has attracted more than 6,000 buyers from over 130 countries, over 1.3 lakh trade visitors, and showcases over 20,000 textile products across 1.6 million sq. ft. of exhibition space.

The minister said Bharat Tex embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 5F Vision — Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign — by connecting Indian enterprises with global markets while strengthening India's role across international textile value chains.

A major business highlight of the inaugural ceremony was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Première Vision Paris, one of the world's leading textile and fashion sourcing platforms. The agreement aims to deepen India-Europe collaboration in innovation, sustainability, design excellence, buyer-seller engagement and export promotion, while opening new opportunities for Indian manufacturers, MSMEs, exporters and designers in European and global markets.

Speaking on the partnership, Shr Giriraj Singh said, “This partnership is another significant step in positioning Bharat Tex as a truly global platform. It will help Indian MSMEs, first-time exporters and manufacturers connect with leading European buyers, while showcasing India's strengths as a reliable, innovative and sustainable sourcing destination. It also reinforces India's growing role as a trusted partner in the global textile value chain.”

The collaboration envisages exhibition partnerships, joint export promotion initiatives and the formation of a Joint Steering Committee to drive implementation, strengthening institutional cooperation between India and Europe.

The event witnessed participation from senior government officials, global buyers, exporters, investors and policymakers. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita, Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao, BTTF Chairman Naren Goenka and Co-Chairman Bhadresh Dodhia, alongside ministers and officials from partner states.

Adding to its growing international stature, Bharat Tex 2026 also hosted ministerial delegations from Russia and New Zealand, highlighting its emergence as a key platform for global trade and policy engagement. Industry delegations from the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, the UAE, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and several other countries are participating during the four-day event.

Eight sponsor states and nine participating states and Union Territories are showcasing their textile ecosystems, industrial infrastructure and investment opportunities. Dedicated Investor Connect sessions with states, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar and Tamil Nadu, are expected to facilitate fresh investments in the sector.

Designed as a comprehensive business platform, Bharat Tex 2026 features the entire textile value chain—from fibres, yarns and fabrics to apparel, technical textiles, home textiles, machinery, handlooms and handicrafts. International exhibitors from 14 countries, along with institutional participation from the United Nations and the European Union, underline the event's expanding global footprint.

Over the next four days, the event will host more than 100 knowledge sessions, including panel discussions, roundtables and masterclasses, while facilitating over 4,000 curated B2B meetings, 100-plus B2G interactions and the signing of more than 30 MoUs covering trade, investment, technology, sustainability and market access.

With its scale, international participation and focus on investment, sustainability and innovation, Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to further strengthen India's ambition of becoming a globally trusted textile manufacturing and sourcing hub while accelerating exports and building resilient global value chains.
