The sacred precincts of the Jagannath Temple at Devbhoomi, Jindal Nagar, here came alive with unparalleled devotion and spiritual splendour as the auspicious Deba Snana Purnima, the ceremonial bathing festival of the Holy Trinity, was celebrated with traditional grandeur on Monday, marking the beginning of the countdown to the world-famous Rath Yatra.

Hundreds of devotees from Jindal Nagar and the surrounding villages thronged the temple to witness the divine rituals and seek the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, Mahaprabhu Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

Savitri Jindal, Chairperson Emeritus of the O.P. Jindal Group, and Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the Jindal Foundation and the temple's Adya Sevika, participated in the sacred ceremonies, offering heartfelt prayers to the deities and seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all.

The temple resonated with the soul-stirring chants of "Jai Jagannath", the rhythmic peal of bells, devotional music, and an atmosphere steeped in spirituality as the rituals were performed with utmost sanctity by the temple's chief servitors in strict adherence to the age-old traditions and customs of the Shri Jagannath Temple, Puri.

The day's ceremonies commenced at the auspicious hour of 5 a.m. with Dwara Phita, Mangala Arati, Shrikarpura Lagi, Mangalarpana Neeti, Pushpanjali, and Sarbanga, followed by the sacred Snana  (bathing) rituals under the guidance of the temple priests.

One of the most captivating moments of the festival was the Dhadi Pahandi procession, during which the Chaturdha Murati were ceremonially escorted to the Snana Mandap amid devotional chants and the beating of traditional instruments. The deities were then ritually bathed with sacred water, symbolising divine purification, universal well-being, and the showering of blessings upon devotees. The spiritually uplifting spectacle filled the temple premises with an overwhelming sense of faith and devotion.

Following the ceremonial bath, the Holy Trinity was adorned in the magnificent Hati Besha (Gajanana Besha). While Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra appeared in the majestic elephant attire symbolising Lord Ganesha, Devi Subhadra was exquisitely decorated in the graceful Padma Besha (Lotus attire). The rare and enchanting adornment left devotees mesmerised.

The evening witnessed the solemn Anasara Pahandi, marking the ceremonial retreat of the deities to the Anasara Ghara, where they will remain in sacred seclusion for the next fourteen days.

Devotees will once again be blessed with the divine darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra on the auspicious occasion of Netrotsav (Netra Utsav), when the deities make their first public appearance after Anasara before embarking on their annual sojourn during the grand Rath Yatra.
