The Indian women’s team
delivered a historic performance at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026,
finishing atop the medal standings with an impressive haul of 10 medals—four
gold, two silver, and four bronze—reaffirming their supremacy on the
continental stage.
Under the stewardship
of head coach Santiago Nieva, every member of the women’s contingent returned
home with a medal, underlining India’s remarkable depth and consistency at the
elite level.
With Boxing
Federation of India President Ajay Singh present at ringside, Minakshi (48kg)
set the tone by clinching the first gold medal of the day with a dominant 5–0
victory over Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan. Preeti (54kg) then extended
India’s golden run, overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen—a three-time
world champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist—via a unanimous 5–0
decision to secure the top podium spot.
Priya (60kg) further
boosted India’s gold tally with a composed 3–0 win against North Korea’s Won
Un-gyong in the final. Arundhati (70kg) also delivered an impressive
performance, registering a 4:1 victory over Kazakhstan’s Bakyt Seidish to claim
gold in her category.
India added two silver medals to its tally, with Jaismine (57kg) finishing runner-up after an impressive campaign, while Alfiyan Pathan (80+kg) also secured silver following a strong showing in the final bout.
Having already confirmed 16 medals — the highest by any participating nation in this edition — India will look to conclude the tournament on a high note on Friday, with two male boxers set to compete in the finals.
