India’s rising women boxers continued their commanding campaign at the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships, with six more pugilists storming into the U-19 semifinals on Thursday to guarantee medals. The stellar quarterfinal performances in Jakarta took India’s assured medal tally in the U-19 women’s competition to eight, underlining the country’s growing dominance and depth in age-group boxing.

Leading the charge, Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) registered a commanding 5:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Zhadyra Kaltay, while Joyshree Devi (54kg) also cruised to a unanimous 5:0 win against Kazakhstan’s Maral Tolepbergen.

Prachi (57kg) maintained her excellent form with a clinical 5:0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Robiya Ravshanova, while Chahat (60kg) produced another flawless display to defeat Kazakhstan’s Zhasmin Abramyan by an identical 5:0 margin.

In the 48kg category, Gunjan battled past Mongolia’s Altanzul Altangadas in a closely contested 3:0 split decision, while Anshika (75kg) completed India’s successful day with a hard-fought 4:1 win over Kazakhstan’s Altyngul Aimukhan.

India, however, suffered two narrow setbacks in the quarterfinals. Vanshika (65kg) lost to Uzbekistan’s Rushanabonu Isoeva after the referee stopped the contest (RSC) in the opening round, while Lakshu (70kg) went down 5:0 to Uzbekistan’s Maftuna Yangieva.

With these results, India has now assured eight medals in the U-19 women’s competition, reflecting the depth of talent and the steady progress of the country's youth boxing programme.

The Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships, being held in Jakarta from July 5 to 16, continue to provide an important platform for India's emerging boxers to gain valuable international experience and prepare for future continental and global competitions.
