In a vibrant
celebration of Odisha’s cherished Raja Festival, Jindal Foundation, the social
arm of Jindal Steel, brought together more than 1,000 women and girls from
surrounding villages at Jan-Jeevika Kendra (JJK) and Jamunali village in Angul,
transforming the occasion into a grand tribute to womanhood, cultural heritage
and community solidarity.
The festivities
reflected the essence of Raja, a festival that honours the fertility of Mother
Earth and celebrates femininity with joy and reverence. Dressed in colourful
traditional attire and adorned with festive jewellery, women and girls
enthusiastically participated in the celebrations, creating an atmosphere
filled with festivity, pride and togetherness. Traditional Raja swings, the
aroma of the Poda Pitha, and a host
of cultural and recreational activities added to the festive charm.
Participants
showcased their talent and creativity through competitions such as Raja Paan Making, Musical Chair, Puchi Dance
and Solo Dance, making the event both
engaging and memorable. The celebrations not only highlighted Odisha’s rich
cultural traditions but also strengthened social bonds and encouraged active
community participation.
The programme was
graced by Swami Satyabindu Saraswati; Mini Nair and Anita Mittal from Jindal
Mahila Samiti (JMS); Shila Pradhan, Sarpanch of Jamunali Gram Panchayat; Dhurba
Charan Dehury, President, Kuio; P.K. Panda, EVP – Liaison & PR; Rishi
Pathania, Head – CSR, Jindal Steel; Seema Verma, Nutritionist, OHC; Sasmita
Rani Das, AGM, Safety Department; Anita Mohanty, Special Guest; along with
employees from various departments of Jindal Steel.
Welcoming the
gathering, Shila Pradhan lauded Jindal Foundation’s commitment to preserving
local traditions and advancing rural development through livelihood initiatives
that have significantly strengthened the socio-economic standing of women in
the region.
Expressing gratitude
to the community, Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, General Manager and Head of CSR,
Angul, thanked the Gram Panchayat representatives and villagers for their
continued support and participation in the Foundation’s initiatives.
The celebrations
concluded with prize distribution ceremonies and community lunches at both
venues, leaving participants with cherished memories and reinforcing a shared
sense of cultural pride, empowerment and belonging.
