IEW 2027 to bring 75,000+ energy professionals and 700+ international exhibitors to the New Town Convention Centre from January 28–31

Kolkata is set to become the centre of the global energy conversation in early 2027, with India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 scheduled to make its eastern India debut from January 28–31 at the New Town Convention Centre.

The fifth edition of the country’s flagship global energy platform will be held under the theme “Unlocking Innovation. Securing Energy. Shaping Tomorrow.” and is expected to attract more than 75,000 energy professionals, 700 international exhibitors and thousands of policymakers, investors, technology innovators and industry leaders from around the world.

The host city was formally announced by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, along with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The announcement places Kolkata at the centre of an international dialogue on energy security, investment, technology and the transition towards cleaner energy systems.

Welcoming the event to West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari thanked Puri and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for bringing IEW 2027 to the state. He said a successful edition of the global energy event could help attract fresh investment, expand existing projects and create employment opportunities in West Bengal.

The decision to hold IEW 2027 in Kolkata marks the first time the event will be hosted in eastern India, adding a significant new geographical dimension to the rapidly expanding energy platform.

For businesses and investors, the event is expected to provide a major avenue to explore partnerships, showcase technologies and engage with international stakeholders. It will also give companies and institutions from eastern India greater access to global energy networks and decision-makers.

The move comes at a time when India's role in the global energy system is becoming increasingly significant. As one of the world's fastest-growing major economies, India's energy requirements continue to expand, while the country simultaneously seeks to balance energy security, affordability and the transition towards cleaner energy sources.

Against this backdrop, the choices made by India have implications extending well beyond its domestic market, making the country an increasingly important arena for global energy investment and strategic dialogue.

IEW 2027 will focus on the technologies, innovations and partnerships needed to strengthen energy security, improve affordability and advance sustainability, with particular relevance for countries across the Global South.

The exhibition and conference programmes will span the broader energy value chain, covering oil and gas, LNG, refining and petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, as well as emerging energy technologies.

With energy security, investment, technology and sustainability becoming increasingly interconnected, the event is positioned as a platform for governments and businesses to examine practical solutions to some of the sector's most pressing challenges.

For energy companies, technology providers and investors, the four-day event is expected to offer opportunities to identify emerging markets, develop commercial partnerships and assess technological developments shaping the next phase of the global energy industry.

India Energy Week has grown substantially since its debut in Bengaluru in 2023. Its fourth edition, held in Goa in 2026, attracted more than 75,000 energy professionals, over 700 exhibiting companies, participants from more than 120 countries and more than 6,500 conference delegates.

The event's international profile has expanded alongside its scale. At IEW 2026, 17 ministers and deputy ministers from countries including the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar and Tanzania participated in the programme.

International organisations, including the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union, also participated, underscoring the increasingly interconnected nature of global energy markets.

The participation of governments, energy companies and international institutions reflects the growing importance of collaboration around energy security, investment, technological innovation and the global energy transition.

IEW 2027 is expected to place particular emphasis on solutions that can deliver reliable and affordable energy while supporting long-term sustainability. The platform will bring together stakeholders from the hydrocarbon industry and the wider energy ecosystem to explore ways to scale innovation, improve efficiency and accelerate technology-led progress.

The event is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and is being organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), with Informa Markets serving as Conference Organiser.

As India's energy requirements continue to rise and global markets undergo structural changes, Kolkata's hosting of IEW 2027 is set to open a new chapter for the country's flagship energy gathering—connecting India's eastern region with global investors, policymakers, technology companies and energy leaders.
