Reinforcing its commitment to healthier and more resilient communities, Vedanta Aluminium marked Rashtriya Poshan Maah with a series of nutrition and healthcare initiatives across Jharsuguda, Lanjigada, BALCO and its mining regions, reaching more than 3,600 beneficiaries. The month-long campaign brought together women, children and students through health screenings, nutrition awareness sessions, community-led programmes and practical interventions promoting healthier dietary and caregiving practices.

Observed annually by the Government of India, Poshan Maah seeks to strengthen nutrition outcomes through awareness, community participation and behavioural change, with a particular focus on women and children. Echoing this vision, Vedanta Aluminium continues to advance nutrition, healthcare, education and women’s empowerment through its community development programmes.

A key initiative in this effort is Nand Ghar, Vedanta’s flagship social impact programme that is transforming Anganwadis into modern centres for nutrition, healthcare, early childhood education and women’s empowerment. Today, more than 13,000 Nand Ghars across 16 states are positively impacting over 4 lakh children and 3 lakh women through holistic development interventions.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “The foundation of a nation’s progress lies in the health and wellbeing of its people. Good nutrition is fundamental to building healthier communities and brighter futures. Poshan Maah provides an important opportunity to strengthen awareness, encourage healthy practices and engage communities in meaningful conversations around wellbeing. Through these initiatives, we remain committed to supporting mothers, children and their families while empowering them to build healthier and more resilient futures.”

Across Vedanta Aluminium’s operating regions, Poshan Maah brought communities together around a shared focus on better health and nutrition.

In Jharsuguda, mothers at the Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) Nand Ghar participated in interactive sessions with healthcare experts, gaining practical insights into maternal nutrition, child health, hygiene and healthy feeding practices. The initiative formed part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader community nutrition efforts in the region, where 133 Nand Ghars are benefiting more than 2,000 women and children. Together, these interventions are helping strengthen awareness of the everyday choices that contribute to healthier families and better outcomes for children.

In Lanjigada, the focus extended beyond awareness to fostering healthier and more self-reliant communities. Reaching 644 beneficiaries, the initiatives combined health and nutrition interventions with livelihood-oriented learning. Women from self-help groups were trained to prepare nutritious ragi-based products, demonstrating how locally available millets can support both improved nutrition and income generation. A nutritious food exhibition further encouraged families to embrace balanced diets and healthier eating practices.

Across Vedanta’s mining regions, Poshan Maah initiatives reached more than 559 beneficiaries across 13 Anganwadi centres. Community members participated in awareness sessions and activities focused on nutrition, health and overall wellbeing, encouraging families to make informed choices for healthier lifestyles.

At BALCO, the focus extended to practical, everyday approaches to nutrition, with 473 mothers, children and community members participating in activities under the Arogya and Nand Ghar projects. The initiatives promoted dietary diversity, healthy feeding practices and nutritious cooking using locally available ingredients, helping families translate nutrition awareness into sustainable daily habits.

While Rashtriya Poshan Maah is observed over a month, its impact can extend well beyond the campaign period. By equipping families and communities with practical knowledge on nutrition, health and wellbeing, Vedanta Aluminium continues to strengthen the foundations for long-term community development. This commitment is reflected in the company’s wider interventions across healthcare, education, women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods, which positively impact more than 10 lakh people annually across its operating regions, contributing to healthier, more resilient and self-reliant communities.
