India’s boxing contingent is poised to launch an aggressive campaign at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, with the official draw revealing a mix of high-stakes opening bouts and strategic byes for several top contenders. The tournament begins on March 30, setting the stage for intense competition as Indian pugilists aim to assert their dominance on the continental stage.

In the women’s competition, Preeti Pawar will open her campaign against Elina Bazarova (KAZ) in the 54 kg category, while Priya is set to take on Rimma Volossenko (KAZ) in the 60 kg division. Minakshi faces a challenging contest against Japan’s Yuka Sadamatasu (JPN), and experienced campaigner Pooja Rani will square off against Kazakhstan’s Nadezhda Ryabets (KAZ). Several Indian stars have received direct entry into the next round, including Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine Lamboria, Ankushita Boro, Arundhati Choudhary, Lovlina Borgohain, and Alfiya Patahan, boosting India’s medal prospects early in the tournament.

The men’s draw also promises gripping encounters. Vishvanath Suresh begins his campaign against Bekzat Ergeshov (KGZ), while Jadumani Singh faces a stern test against top seed Rui Yamaguchi (JPN) in what is expected to be one of the most closely watched 55 kg clashes. Sachin will battle Buyandalai Bayarkhuu (MGL), Aditya Pratap Singh meets Mouda Alhawsaw (KSA), and Deepak takes on Khavasbek Asadullaev (UZB). Ankush and Narender have secured byes into the next round, while Akash, Lokesh, and Harsh Choudhary are gearing up for important opening bouts in their respective weight categories.

With the matchups now confirmed, the Indian contingent carries strong momentum and depth across divisions, combining emerging talent with proven champions.
